Cultivating Hope: Sapargul’s Greenhouse in Tajikistan 

In the remote highlands of Murghab, Tajikistan, a remarkable story of resilience and innovation is unfolding. Sapargul, a local mother, has transformed her community through the power of a climate-smart greenhouse, bringing fresh produce and new opportunities to a region where they were once scarce.  

“In one of the world’s most challenging environments, her greenhouse stands as a ray of hope, nurturing both fresh produce and a brighter future for her community.” 

A Harvest of Change  

Sapargul’s greenhouse is more than just a structure; it’s a lifeline for over 1,600 households in Murghab. In a single season, she produced: 

This bountiful harvest not only feeds her family but also supplies the local market, providing essential nutrients to over 6,700 people in the community. 

Community Impact 

  1. Improved Nutrition: Sapargul’s organic vegetables address vitamin deficiencies prevalent in the region. 
  1. Economic Growth: The initiative has created three new jobs and generated income for Sapargul’s family.
