DALLAS, TEXAS, April 7, 2016. Today, at the annual Aga Khan Foundation Golf – Dallas tournament, 117 golfers drove on the green while investing in long-term solutions to improve the quality of life for communities around the world. Held at the Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine, Texas, golfers raise nearly $170,000 for programs of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) that help communities in Africa and Asia break the cycle of poverty. 100 percent of net proceeds and all donations go directly to projects supported by the Aga Khan Foundation.
Organizers thanked the enthusiastic golfers and sponsors across the metro area including national sponsor, The Coca-Cola Company. Amsal and Saman, local high school students were awarded the esteemed AKF Youth Ambassador Award for their outstanding community service including the organization of an art competition for Dalllas high school students last year.
The charity tournament attracted high-level corporate executives, civic leaders, and local celebrities, including Dallas Cowboys center, Travis Frederick, who mingled with the golfers. Among other prizes, winners of on-course contests received an Apple Watch, iPadPro, iPad Pencil, gift certificates and golf bags. An awards banquet followed the tournament, including a short video about the Foundation’s work, scope and values.
