We are thrilled that once again, the Pyarali Nagji Family has chosen to generously match up to $100,000 donations received by the Aga Khan Foundation, beginning Thursday, November 21, for four consecutive days during the 2024 Fall Campaign. Their hope in making this match is to inspire others to give, knowing their donations will be doubled.
Please give generously and help AKF make the most of this wonderful initiative from the Pyarali Nagji Family!
This year, the Pyarali Nagji Family is honoring their beloved paternal grandparents, Amarbai and Nagji, who lived in India in the 1880’s. The Pyarali Nagji Family fondly remembers their grandfather and grandmother as staunch believers in practicing gratitude and giving generously to those they saw struggling around them. Nagji was highly respected as the community chief, a position that involved many years of leadership and voluntary service. Meanwhile, his wife Amarbai assumed the role of community healer, where she gave hours of her personal time to care for numerous women and children, preparing herbal remedies for them in regions where medical professionals were scarce. After the death of Nagji, Amarbai migrated to Tanzania in 1946 with her youngest son, Pyarali, and his wife, Jena. She continued her voluntary efforts there and lived with them for the rest of her life, helping to raise their 11 children. The values set by their grandparents were instilled in their parents and passed on to them and their children, and they continue to practice these values today. “Our grandparents taught and inspired us to give and give generously; this is in our blood and what we live for – helping others in whatever capacity we can.’ Shenaz Pyarali Nagji, the granddaughter of Amarbai and Nagji, shared with us.
